Greetings! I am Ewa (EV-ah),
I am a graduate student at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), pursuing a degree in Interior Architecture, Adaptive Reuse (MDes). I am an architecture and art history enthusiast, bookworm and an avid yoga practitioner.
At RISD, I focus on adaptive reuse with biophilic design as the focal point of my studies. Over the course of my graduate work, I aim to gain a deep level understanding of the concept and its applications.
I will spend the summer researching biophilic design as this year’s Hart Howerton summer Travel Fellow in San Francisco. In my research I will focus on biophilic design in workplace and educational settings, with the hope to discover the latest and most advanced applications of this design approach. The fellowship will take me to New York, Boston, Chicago, Toronto, Seattle and Hawaii, where I will be collecting insights from designers, developers and experts in the field to discover motivations for implementing biophilic design concepts. I will try to understand how to assess tangible results arising from their application over time. I will also speak with the occupants of such spaces, to understand their perspectives and how they align with the original design intent.
Follow my trip here and please feel free to ask any questions, leave comments and reach out regarding this research or if you would like to know more about me and my design education and work.
