Hart Howerton Travel Fellowship 2018 – Final Report

“The effective practice of biophilic design depends on knowing and appreciating which features and processes of the natural world have been especially relevant to human functioning and so will offer the greatest benefit to people in today’s modern setting.”

Stephen R. Kellert

I am so happy and excited to finally share this report with you!

It’s a culmination of my 11-week long Travel Fellowship at Hart Howerton during the Summer of 2018.  I can’t believe that I visited so many places, met such amazing people, and expanded my knowledge about sustainable and biophilic design!

Thank you so much Hart Howerton for selecting me as one of the fellows and all who were so supportive on this journey! I believe this is just a start of my adventure with biophilic design!

Hope you will find a moment to sit down, grab a cup of coffee (or kombucha) and read through the report. Please let me know if you have any questions about my findings, biophilic design in general, or just want to chat!

Thank you!

Warmest Wishes,

Ewa Podgórska

NatuRE:engaged REPORT

“Successfully brining nature into the built environment will ultimately depend on our relationship with the natural world…We need to recognize that our physical, mental, and even spiritual health and wellbeing continue to rely on our relationship to nature even in our highly constructed, technologically oriented, and increasingly urban society. When we impoverish our ties to the nonhuman environment, we inevitably compromise the quality of our existence, as well as that of many other species.”
